Princess Anne Visit
Princess Anne came to Oban on the 3 rd July to mark the 10 year anniversary of the Carer’s Centre. Many of the carers and young carers who are involved with the Centre were invited to the Argyllshire Gathering Halls to meet The Princess Royal. Look in the GALLERY to see pictures of Princess Anne coming round the tables and chatting to all the carers. At the end Princess Anne said a few words and signed the photograph album we made especially for the event, which you can find in The Carer’s Centre. It was wonderful morning and everyone enjoyed the experience.
Summer Trips
Check out the gallery to see pictures of the summer activities we ran during the summer holidays. These included going to Atlantis, Argyll Adventure in Inverary and going to Mull to swim in the new swimming pool! A great time was had by all!
Calendar
Wow! Yeah it’s the staff at the Carer’s Centre! What on earth are we doing? Well if you haven’t seen it already this is a preview of our ‘Calendar Girls’ Calendar. Why? Well to raise money in support of the Young Carers Project here in Oban. Lynn Hull, development worker, came up with the eye-catching idea, to help raise awareness and money for the Young Carers. Through her powers of persuasion she managed to get 13 business involved in stripping off (almost!) for the rest of the calender. These included Atlantis leisure, the Beach, Oban Express and many more….If you want to find out and see more – YOU HAVE TO BUY THE CALENDER!!! Just get in touch with the Carers Centre.
The Carers Festival
The Carers Festival takes place this year in Scotland , Peebleshire on the 13 th and 14 th of September. This year 8 of our young carers have the opportunity to go to the festival! It is an opportunity to meet many other young carers from around the country, make new friends and share stories. There are lots of fun activities to take part in, shows, discussions and a chance to meet MP’s and voice opinions and concerns on all caring issues regarding young people. Look out for some more information and more photographs no doubt at the end of September.
